| Magician |
| Magicians are the summoners of the arcane world, with the power to call forth everything from a loaf of bread to a huge fire elemental to fight for them. While not as adept at offensive spells as wizards, magicians still wield considerable power in this area. |
Strength: Melee damage. Absolutely useless, unless you are an Arcane Were-Hunter. In the later case, max this out.
Stamina: Your health points. Geomancers should max this out for Badi Crush. Other mages want at least 200 (base) of this for survival.
Dexterity: Your spell damage. Pyromancers should max this out for Efreeti Strike. Otherwise, stay away from it -- it's mostly useless, as our spells don't get much of a boost from even a high amount of DEX.
Agility: Your defense and power. Aeromancers should max this out for Djinni Bolt. This is our secondary power pool, so it doesn't hurt to beef this up a bit regardless of Master Class.
Wisdom: Your resistances. Hydromancers should max this out for Ghilani Wash. Otherwise, stay away from it -- it's absolutely useless.
Intelligence: Your power. All magicians should have this maxed out *first*. This is your primary power pool, after all.
Charisma: Absolutely useless, don't put a single stat into this. Who cares what you look like? You have the power to summon elemental denizens from other planes, no one is going to call you ugly with a giant fire genie glaring down at them.

Master Classes for Magicians
Magicians have the most options for a Master Class available to them compared to any other class in the game. Perhaps this guide will help you decide which one you want, or at least decide which one(s) you *don't*.
Aeromancer
"Aeromancers wield air elements with a masterful flair."
INT MAX +50
AGI MAX +25
AGI +25
PoT +20
Lightning Resistance +50
Disease Resistance -15
Poison Resistance -15
Movement Rate +15
Element: Air
Required Stats: 175 Agility, 200 Intelligence
Required Class Masteries: Aeromancy 4
Strength: Power, Lightning Resistence
Weakness: Defense, Poison/Disease Resistance
Summoning: Djinni Vizier (Level 54)
Master Class Ability: Djinni Bolt (Agility Based, Lightning Damage)
Specialty: Grouping / Raiding
Light of foot and surging with mana are the Aeromancers, with the highest possible mana pools of all Magicians (that is to say, their agility can reach higher amounts then any other magician and thus give more power). From what I understand, agility is basically an invisible armor stat, so in a way defense is not necessarily your weakness -- however, even with maxed out agility, you should never be tanking as it just doesn't make that much of a difference. The great thing about this class is that with Djinni Bolt doing more damage based on how much agility you have, you're boosting both your damage output and how long you can keep up that damage with bigger power pools.
The mindset for Aeromancy is to pummel enemies with heavy spell damage from both you and your pet. Djinni Vizier is able to do this almost as well as you, especially since he is the fastest (spell casting) air pet available. Djinni Vizier only hits a single time in melee combat but this is made up for by some serious damage out put through his magic, with two main spells, one cold-based and the other lightning-based. He also has a powerful spike nuke that does huge damage at a 3 second cast time. Unlike the other air pets, however, this spike damage is not an AoE. Finally, Djinni Vizier has a very situation and, in my opinion, useless spell that roots his target in place. It's almost impossible to use this effectively, as there is no telling when he'll use it.
When soloing, Djinni Vizier is actually not a bad tank, but remember that he still is not one. His damage out put is great, but it's still a little slow, which means that it can be easy to pull aggro off of him if you don't let him get in a few casts first. Most likely you'll just be healing anyway, as his damage is good enough to where you won't need to nuke that much, and his defense is bad enough to where he can lose a lot of health fast if you're not careful. In groups, it's debatable whether Efreeti Lord or Djinni Vizier is the better damage dealer, but from my experience it's apples and oranges in almost all cases except for really fast grinding sessions where burst damage is more important. I do believe he is the superior pet for Raids, however.
Suggested To: Any magician who wants to maximize their power and significantly increase their damage output for their group/raid/whatever. I also suggest it to anyone who wants Spirit of the Wolf any time they want, because that is one of the effects of the buff Djinni Vizier gives you. Also, Aeromancy 4 is the correct CM requirement, meaning you save 20 extra CMs that you would have had to spend on Pyromancy/Geomancy/Hydromancy 5 had you taken one of those Master Classes instead.
Geomancer
"Geomancers are stolid masters of earth elements. They are often accompanied by a badi elder."
INT MAX +50
STA MAX +25
STA +25
AC +400
Disease Resistance +30
Poison Resistance +30
Lightning Resistance -25
Element: Earth
Required Stats: 150 Stamina, 200 Intelligence
Required Class Masteries: Geomancy 5
Strength: Defense, Poison and Disease Resistance
Weakness: Offense, Lightning Resistance
Summoning: Badi Elder (Level 54)
Master Class Ability: Badi Crush (Stamina Based, Slashing / Blunt damage?)
Specialty: Soloing / Tanking
Geomancers are the hardiest of all Magicians, with an enormous amount of HP and natural AC bonuses, coupled with what Badi Elder buffs you with. I listed offense as a weakness only because that's the only thing I could think of, and even that is not entirely true as you still have access to your level 54 (store bought at level 60) Efreet which you can use when you don't need Badi for tanking. That, plus you still have Blaze doing the same amount of damage, and Badi Crush doing even higher damage. So, your offense is lower then it *could* be, but certainly not weak.
The general idea behind Geomancy is to let your pet handle the situation, while you become something of a 'white magician'. When soloing, Badi Elder is an amazing tank. Not only is she able to hold aggro well, she can take hits from enemies that are much higher level then she and come out mostly unscathed. This is especially true at the Tenacious Frost Giants, where the only thing that seems to hurt her is their initial crit strike, which may take off a bubble of health or so, while their quads do very little. She is better at tanking then even some human players, and requires very few heals against such powerful foes. Even the Goblin Assassins near Castle Lightwolf can be tanked by her, and while they are significantly more difficult, you should be able to keep her alive with chain healing -- and again, she is of a much lower level, which makes it all the more impressive. In groups, most of the time having Efreet out will bode over better with your group, as Efreet can do far more damage.
If you decide to go on the offensive with Badi out, you must allow her to get in two full quads. This should be enough aggro (coupled with her taunts) to keep mobs focused on her and not go after you. Always remember that even though you are the strongest magician in terms of taking hits, you are still not a tank yourself; don't rambo and don't overestimate your strength. Let Badi tank, because after all, that's why you have her in the first place.
Suggested To: Any magician who just wants to go off on their own from time to time and really not worry about dying. It's also a great way to increase your defense without sacrificing much offense.
Hydromancer
"Hydromancers use their elemental mastery sparingly, conserving it for times of dire need. They are often accompanied by a Ghilan noble."
INT MAX +50
WIS MAX +25
WIS +25
Power +250
Fire Resistance +50
Cold Resistance -25
Element: Water
Required Stats: 125 Wisdom, 200 Intelligence
Required Class Masteries: Hydromancy 5
Strength: Survival, Cold Resistance / All Resistances (Wisdom)
Weakness: Offense, Defense, Fire Resistance
Summoning: Ghilan Noble (Level 54)
Master Class Ability: Ghilan Wash (Wisdom Based, Cold Damage)
Specialty: Soloing / Tanking / Power Leveling
A rare sight, Hydromancers are an interesting breed of Magician focused even more on soloing then Geomancers. Unfortunately, they are not as hardy, and must rely on their summoning to heal them for survival. Their natural regeneration is fairly high, especially when Ghilan Noble buffs them, which is over +200 Health-Over-Time. Unfortunately she does not buff your armor, which means you are still a paper mage. However, Hydromancers are quite possibly the best survivalists of all the Magicians because they have a personal cleric to heal them and while all Magicians have this, no water pet is nearly as good as Ghilan Noble in the art of healing.
Patience. Hydromancy is all about patience, it's about conserving power, and it's about slowly wearing down even the strongest of enemies by healing through their attacks. Ghilan Noble's damage output is horrendously low, so you will most likely have to bring forth a little damage yourself. Unfortunately, Ghilan Wash is Wisdom based, which means unless you put a lot of points into this stat, you won't do nearly as much damage as your fellow mages with their Master Class nukes. Worse yet is that Wisdom, aside from buffing this one damage spell, is useless for you except for when you're up against caster mobs due to the resistance increase. Against caster mobs, Ghilan Noble herself is wonderful. She is able to solo Rea Nekchev of Freeport, a yellow-to-a-60 wizard were-hunter (although she may need to be buffed with your Fire Resistance spell). Against melee mobs, she doesn't have much defense, but her heals make her hard to bring down. Against the undead, her clerical nuke turns into a specific anti-undead nuke which does more damage then usual...unfortunately it's still very weak, and obviously situational.
When grouping, there is no reason to have Ghilan out unless either she or you is somehow the one tanking (weird pet group perhaps?). Her damage is pitiful and while she is a great healer, she can only heal herself and you -- no one else.
Oh, and just a quick side note, Ghilan Noble will NOT heal you in duels.
Suggested To: Any magician who wants get into heavy soloing and, like Geomancers, doesn't want to worry about dying. Your survivability is incredible, but your damage is pathetic.
Pyromancer
"Pyromancers wield fire elements with brazen abandon. They are often accompanied by an efreeti lord."
INT MAX +50
DEX MAX +25
DEX +25
AGI +50
Fire Resistance +50
Cold Resistance -25
Movement Rate +10
Element: Fire
Required Stats: 150 Dexterity, 200 Intelligence
Required Class Masteries: Pyromancy 5
Strength: Offense, Fire Resistance
Weakness: Defense, Cold Resistance
Summoning: Efreeti Lord (Level 54)
Master Class Ability: Efreeti Strike (Dexterity Based, Fire Damage)
Specialty: Grinding / Farming
Just the opposite of Hydromancers in most all ways, Pyromancers are a very common sight and their damage output even on their own is impressive. They do not have any defensive capabilities, except for fire spells headed their way, and thus should stay in the background launching torrents of flames at their enemies. The greatest weapon a Pyromancer has is his pet, with the ability to Summoning an Efreeti Lord, a top contender for the strongest summonable pet in terms of damage. Efreeti Lord is also arguably the largest pet in the game in terms of height, and is an intimidating looking creature (give or take a few chuckles about the turban).
The best defense is a good offense, and what could be better then a Pyromancer? While dexterity is weak for magicians, it greatly enhances the Efreeti Strike spell, so this should be maxed out. This will also boost your other spells as well, meaning your over all damage out put is far higher then any other mage (with only one exception...). The drawback here is that you still need stamina and agility, but then that is the principle embedded in fire - "it's fury rages until finally it consumes itself". Anyway, Efreeti Lord is monstrous, doing a tremendous amount of melee damage as well as a fire based nuke spell that he uses from time to time. When soloing or pet tanking, it's doubtful that you will pull aggro unless you're chain casting, and if you are, it's unlikely your target will last very long anyway. Despite being such a heavy damage dealer, Efreeti Lord is not a terrible tank and can take hits fairly well, but he does require healing occasionally.
For Pyromancers, Efreeti Lord is your pet of choice for all situations. Although I said Djinni Vizier is better for raids, Efreeti Lord is still quite powerful for that as well, especially against cold based or any non-fire based mobs (although he shreds through fire based mobs too!). His high damage at such a fast rate makes him more suited to fighting mobs that are dying quickly however, like in a grind or when you're farming.
Suggested To: Any magician who wants to absolutely maximize their damage and draw crowds with an impressive looking pet. Most players seeking a mage in their group/raids will be looking for a Pyro. Be warned, however, that you will not be at all unique in your decision. Pyromancers are extremely common.
Racial Master Classes
Chosen (Dark Elf): Not good at all, doesn't give you anything you really need.
Immortal (Elf): This should really be left to the healer classes, Magicians aren't there to buff the group, at least not in that sense. I can't imagine why you would pass up a nuke and powerful summoning for Pure Heart and some other stuff you don't need.
Tinker (Gnome): Useless. We already get pets and we can already heal them. Not only that, but again, the elemental Master Classes give us a nuke in addition to the already stronger summoning we get along with it.
Scholar (Erudite): Not bad if you really want to help your group out a little more with some power and have a lot of it yourself for chain casting. I still don't think it's worth losing your pet over, though.
Mercenary (Human): Garbage, this is useless for a magician except for maybe dueling.
Other Master Classes
Arcane Were-Hunter: At 600 Strength, Molten Silver of Solist does 2900 damage, and has a 500 damage DoT (damage over time) attached to it that ticks 4 times. This totals 4900 damage in all, the highest damage any magician can achieve (even with the pet debuffs, the highest I've seen is 2500ish), although this does not come cheap at a heavy mana cost of 600. I suggest this to anyone who wants to have a kind of Magician / Wizard hybrid, and empower themselves rather then their pet. This also tends to sync well if you chose Stone Path.
Sage: Generally a bad choice for a magician, as this does nothing to help your offensive abilities except maybe help you chain cast longer, but if you're seeking to increase your damage, Pyromancer or Aeromancer are FAR better choices. As far as defense goes, Geomancer and Hydromancer are also much better then this. The ability that makes you nearly invincible (Stone Skin?) just isn't worth anything outside of dueling or maybe pulling too many mobs when soloing. I have almost never seen this on a magician, so unless you want to go for the 'uniqueness' appeal, stay away from it.
Hope this helps. I'll update it if anything changes.

Castle Lightwolf
Magician Master Classes
Level 60 Arcane Were-Hunter Magician
Castle Lightwolf
Magician Master Classes
Edit: Updated info, especially now that they introduced Class Balancing. Lets label it CB.
--------------------
Geomancer
Geomancer is the earth master class for Magicians.
Requirments: 150 Stamina, 200 Intelligence.
Pet: Badi Elder
Badi Elders Abilities:
Quad Hit
Melee Strike
Damaging Taunt
Classified as 'TANK'
Some thoughts: Badi Elder's defensive power is off the charts, in both HP and AC. The new CB has increased her defense and lowered her offense, makeing her an ideal tanking pet. The Geomancer class itself is for mages who want to be able to survive attacks, and for the ultimate freedom of soloing when you don't have a group. You can always use the 60 store bought Efreet when grouping, so don't worry about that. Badi Elder has been known to tank an entire floor of Siloths (that's atleast 10) without a problem, and tank an Ebony Recluse.
--------------------
Aeromancer
Aeromancer is the air master class for Magicians.
Requirments: 150 Agility, 200 Intelligence.
Pet: Djinni Vizier
Djinni Viziers Abilities
Single Hit
Casts Cold and Lightning spells.
Casts two AoE Spells every so often, both do ALOT of damage.
Classified as a 'CASTER'
Some thoughts: Djinni Vizier is the last line of caster pets for a Magician, and the most powerful. With two AoEs and a fast new casting time, Djinni Vizier can very well be the most powerful pet available to magicians. Really it all comes down to melee resists and elemental resists on the targeted mob. Most Aeromancers like to boast their power to it's highest potention, maxing out AGI and INT. I've heard power bars reaching the 9000+ region, so Aeromancer is the ideal class for raids. Djinni Vizier's recast on his AoEs have been decreased and it seems like he uses them every two rounds of attacking.
--------------------
Pyromancer
Pyromancer is the fire master class for Magicians
Requirments: 150 Dexterity, 200 Intelligence
Pet: Efreeti Lord
Efreeti Lords Abilties
Quad Hit
Melee Strike
Fire Nuke
Classified as 'Damage Dealer'
Some Thoughts: Efreeti Lord is a prime choice for any magician. The new CB has increased his damage output drastically, and with the new dex mod on our MCA nukes, Pyromancer is no longer just about the pet. While not the best pet for tanking, Efreeti Lord makes up for his crappy defense with offensive damage that nearly rivals Red Swarming Death's. If you plan to solo with him, I suggest killing FR based mobs or CR based mobs for the extra element vs element damage.
--------------------
Hydromancer
Hydromancer is the water master class for Magicians
Requirements: 125 Wisdom, 200 Intelligence
Pet: Ghilan Noble
Ghilan Nobles Abilities
Single Strike
Cold Nuke (Turns into an undead nuke against undead)
Heals herself at half life
Heals you at half life
Has a 150 AoE heal that she uses while she fights
Classified as 'Healer'
Some Thoughts: Ghilan Noble is strictly a soloing pet, unless you're killing undead mobs in which case her AoE heal and undead nukes come in handy. As a Hydromancer, your main focus will be hp since you'll mostly be soloing with her. Boost as much HP as possible, your CR nukes don't cost much to begin with and those are the ones you'll be useing. If you need the extra damage, throw in a fire nuke but you really shouldn't have to. I think it is better then you take the first hits of a mob, then have Ghilan heal you and peel aggro. She can tank the rest. It's a balanced class all around, though as said before not useful in xp groups.
PS: Fun fact for you lycans- Rea Nekchev was unable to kill Ghilan Noble, even when Ghilan Noble went passive and just healed herself. Think on this.
--------------------
The Magician's Master Class is the hardest decision in the game due the wide variety of choices.
Try to decide what MC you want early, because if you dont you not only waste CM points, but stat points that cannot be reversed till level 55.
Any questions, email me.

Castle LightWolf
"I'd stay and continue this battle of wits, but you're obviously unarmed."
1. Fire spells cost alot more power to cast, and so you'll need alot of power else you'll be drinking quickly.
2. Every caster needs atleast some hp, and it's not good to go full power on a magician. I know, because I was one - my hp at level 50 was roughly 1000. This makes it INSANELY EASY to be killed, especially if you're on a raid or epic quest where there is a mob with a huge aoe. Your main focus as a caster is to build on power, but dont ignore your hp!
With that being said, let's look at your new pet. Efreeti Lord is a wickedly powerful pet, and IMO I think he is the most awesome looking pet in the game, - or atleast closely tied with Djinni Vizier.
Finally, the Pyro stat requirments- 150 DEX and 200 INT. The new Class Balancing has increased the dex mod on magician spells, so now Dex is not useless! But, you don't have to go crazy with this since you can find better places to put those points such as INT, AGI, or STA for the HP I was talking about earlier. Hope this helped, and sorry if it was a little hard to read.
Edit: Oh yeah, the DELF racial stuff. None of them are worth getting if you're going to be a Magician. Erudites have GREAT racial cms, I suggest makeing a Eru-Magician. But it doesn't matter either way.

If you get Frontiers, you can buy Efreet at level 60 from a shop down in the Elemental Towers Zone. There will be a merchant near the Water Elemental Islands, and she should be away from the elementals so you can safely talk to her. There are also a few other spells you can get, I there are 8 in all. 4 level 55s and 4 level 60s.

as for MC i think u should stick with one of the four class MC's(aero, pyro, hydro,or geo)....in my opinion they are too good to pass up.
I would take Aeromancer or Geomancer because of 2 reasons each:
Aeromancer: pet(Djinni Vizier)is great for raids and the nuke u get(for 75cm's) does 1112+30%DEX plus it's lightning resistant based
Geomancer: pet(Badi Elder)is great for farming or even for soloing(if you now how) the nuke also does 1112+30%DEX BUT it is sort of like the wizards cmed nukes(Fury attacks)which means...yes you guessed it...not alot of mobs will resist it which means you will be seeing this nuke doing full damage.
P.S. if i have offended you, im sorry, this is all just either facts or opinions of myself.

Hydro, holds aggro well with heals, and allows for more casting since you don't have to cast heals as often, and is a great tool for PLing.

Not so much crafted. Although crafted is nice stuff, there is gear out there that will not only give the same stat but also several others. Something to think about. Also, the type of held you use will sort of determine what jewelry you need to be wearing to get the desired stats.
Also, instead of using jewelry that JUST gives stamina, why not use black sapphire? It gives plenty of stamina, hpmax, ar, etc.. would be a much better choice.
Nightshade gloves are OKAY for duels or solo'ing but not in a grind. You wouldn't want to be wearing statless gloves in a grind when you could be wearing something that boosts stats.
Anyway just some suggestions... ^_^

I think the pet path buffs stack with store bought buffs but do the store bought spells stack with eachother or cancel eachother out? I would be very grateful for any insight on this matter.
welp...here's another guess:
I pretty sure the different spells stack, as long as they are a different group of spells. i.e- the path spells don't stack with each other but they would would stack with the store bought pet buffs. Just using this rule of thumb cuz that's pretty much how all other spells work.

The only way to be sure is to get a buddy (or a second account) and duel. Buff your pet, watch the damage output. Buff your pet differently, see how the numbers change.
For myself, I *always* asked the Healer to target and buff my pet. I don't know if it helps or not, but I do know it doesn't hurt (and it makes me feel better!).

also was wondering about pet cm's... do you have to buy every pet from level 26 up or can you skip and upgrade from a storebought one later...
i figured if i held offf on aero pet till 29 i would only end up spending 80 points to get max pet... then do roughly the same thing for geo and spend 80 there... or are points easie enough to where i would benefit from just buying pets as soon as i can?
CM's are easy to get as long as you don't waste em. I'd recommend buying 2 mancy's the whole till you're ready for your CM. If aero & geo are your choice, buy just areo and geomancy cm's. Just buy them as they become available. And don't forget to buy the pet spells everytime you can.

And, if an air pets aoe can get your gorup killed, you group fukking sucks sooo bad you need to start a new account just to get rid of most of the scum that has scorched you and your record, not to mention your account. In 54 levels, and 440 cms (attainted thoughout various levels) an air pets nuke has NEVER EVER killed, or come close to killing anyone in my group. let alone it's never even pulled an extra mob. and yes, the offensive and defensive stances help immensly when you need one rooted. pet stances are a little tricky so, if you have pet on any stance, if you send him to "Attack" it will automatically change his stance from whatever it was, to offensive.
If you choose to go geo or pyro mancer's, go pet buff. if you going aero it dont matter. and if you went hydromancer GET THE FUK OUTTA MY GROUP YOU NO DMG DUMASS! i think thats all i wanted to say.. o well if it aint it aint an i change it!
P.S. if i have offended you, im sorry, this is all just either facts or opinions of myself.

Stat Boosters, Shorten Recast, Strength Certain Specials, Give new Abilitys, Need for MC (Master Class), Give MODS (Ofensive or Defensive), ECT!
How do get them:
At level 6 and Up you can put your CM % To what you want. 100% you will get no leveling but more CM xp, 50% Half Level XP Half CMs
When to get them:
I'd start getting them at 20.
Then 30, 40 and 50.
55 To get MC
60 to finish off your char, once ur done all you can do is Raid, Explore, Help Others and Start playing Alts.

ty for the info
fire = ranger (takes hits ok n deals ok dmg, decent solo too)
water = cl (heals you and nukes every few seconds)
earth = war (taunt and quad, great for solo n such)
air = wizzy (gets wizzy spells) im pretty sure a
wizard does most dmg, then ranger, then warrior then cl, unless pet stats are really ------ up
so, i choose aero for raid and grps due to dmg! (=
