Cleric
A cleric is a healer devoting his or her life to service, using their powers in order to aid and protect others. Clerics are forbidden to shed the blood of others and so have skills only in blunt weaponry. While they cannot compete with the sheer force of a warrior’s attack, clerics are certainly able to protect themselves in many situations.

I'm about to go do my 20 path and I was wondering which path would be best. I was thinking heal, since... I'm a healer?
But I've been reading some of the posts on the site, and now I'm not so sure.

For CM. Which one would be best to go?

And what should my basic cleric stats be, not including the CM requirements.

Just read your post.

Exorcist:

What you get when you have MC: 2OF/200pow/25PR/25DR/10PoT

CM Cost: 200

Level Required: 55

CM's Required: Inquistors Brand 3, Turn Undead 4

Stat's Required: 250 wis, 500 CM's spent

Master Class Abilities: Divine Reclamation, 75% res, 75 CM's

Exorcise, 1386 dmg, (increased by wis)

-------------------------------------------------

Faithful: (so you can compare)

What you get when you have MC: 50wis max/2DF/500HP max

CM Cost: 200

Level Required: 55

CM's Required: Testament of Faith 3, United Faith 3

Stat's Required: 200 wis, 200 cha, 500 CM's spent

Master Class Abilities: Light of Faith, 3 tick 866 increased by charisma, 75 CM's

Mark of Faith, Healing Damage Shield 10 pts a hit, 75 CM's

In my opinion Faithful is better, since the require CM's and stats you should already have by 55 if you want to build a good healer.

But Exorcist is what everyone wants their friends to go, just so their friends can get rid of 75% of their debt. :-) But you don't always get asked for rez, and you don't always die in the end so most exorcist's drop for faithful.

BUT, that is just my opinion.

I wouldent say this Exorcist MC isnt entirely Worthless. This Mc Pwns IoD and PoD with MCA.Plus if you box characters, you get 80% debt gone. And lol thing about your friends saying they only want you for 80% debt off!?If your friend are asking that then your friends are screwed up because this MC takes away 80% of your debt(good for high leveled characters)and the stat good because a Normal cleric gets almost 10 Def mods, and almost 7 Off Mods without your Racial Off/Def mod CM,and if your guild is raiding IoD/Pod(which your guild will ever do)your pwning the mobs because the undead MCA.So thinking Faithful is better you better start a cleric and see because you already have almost 800 heal power,Ac/Hp Buff,Stack Heals Or Resist buff, and pretty good direct nukes. So whats the point of having a heal thats 1k heal?Faithful perfect mc if you want good healer but saying Exorcist is worthless you better think twice about it.

cl's should try and max charisma, even if you don't need that healing power, its always good to have (raids, getting jumped/trained, quests, taking on a rare spawn ect) and wis should be atleast 200 after about lvl 35 or 37 or so. and if you like, raise stamina for some more hp. A good healer should always be ABLE (but not always have it) to max their cha past lvl 28. and clerics arent the best healers. if a lvl 20 cl and drd had the same amount of cha and used the lvl 20 heal, it'd heal the exact same on the 3rd and 4th, and probably 1st and second too, but not always cuz wis ALSO raises chances (that or its completely based on weather or not it tics at almost exactly the same time your targets HoT tics) of stack heal (heals twice at once when normally only 1st tic would), and ALSO raises chances of your first tic being more then your normel, so a double stack heal from a high wis healer would probably make the stack heal (as in the first 2 tics that happen at the same time) goodday and goodnight!

Okay...that is a great statement to make...totally agree...

Quote:

Raise stam...I agreewith that...but don't do to much, because at higher levels, you will have a bit more HP and be able to cast heals on yourself that tick for at least 750+...you can lava swim with a 750+ tick...usually. and don't max your Cha to quick, you don't want to pull mobs from tanks...and that will happen a lot between levels 15-24, and 30-34.

Quote:

I have never seen a lvl 60 durid heal for near what I do...I heal (on most tanks depending on HoT) over 820...and I can give you a link to my guild website that also discusses the same topic...so lemme know if you wanna see that.

I have no idea what you are talking about past there...but I can tell you that at high levels, wis is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. You wisdom is not only a power pool stat, but if you heal your tank at the right time, it should take 2 ticks to heal them, and if you have max wis, ther is a good chance of a double tick when they are in a certain range.

That said.../rates up...more good info than opinion =P

I've been reading down and everyone agrees it's a good idea to pu some TP's into STA.

I have a 35 Eur Cleric on Hodstock, Thelma is her name. She has over 400 cha atm and the rest on WIS. She is heal path and heals far beyond the call of duty, however, she dies sooo..... frigin much its over kill.

I no longer play on Hodstock, all my mains on PPO now. I have two Dwarf Clerics that I'm very pleased with.

So, IMO....

I recomend (FOR EVERY CLASS) to get your stamina to 100, if nothing else. You will be so happy you did. not only does it help for obvious reasons, it also opens 3 different general CM's.

a Hit Point Factor, and HOT, and a HP max

but, that is just my opinion.

good luck everybody

Well I have taken resist path and atm like it very much. My lvl 30 cm resist buffs (which is 0 cm cost if you r resist path) give +50 tall resists. It really depends on what you want to do path wise but resist path clerics are a must for every raid and sinde there are not many of us chances are (depending on guild) that a majority of you're time after lvl 55 will be spent raiding.
Stat wise I'm currently going wis cha and sta, i might add a little to agi after lvl 40 since as healer you draw aggro so it might help to have lil agility but idk. Well thats about all I got gluck and have fun

I would not consider adding an Agility at all if on a Cleric.

First, of course- I would raise Charisma. Increase your Charisma for a fairly long time. You want the best heal possible in the begging, seeing as tanks are quite hard to heal in lower levels.

Secondly, I would focus on putting Training Points into Wisdom. This is also your power pool stat, much like Charisma is. You want all the power you can manage to recieve; once again- mana is hard in the beginning.

And lastly, I would personally focus on Stamina. Therefore, you can take a few hits at least and not drop.

I would also save TPs when you start getting into the high 40s and early 50s if you have Charisma maxed and plenty of Wisdom and Stamina. Therefore you can play your points wherever after you figure out what your 60 gear will be.

I completely understand why everyone agrees not to add any agi to your cleric. However, it wouldnt hurt to maybe put to 80. If you go under Hodstock.com youll find that it opens up DEF mods... which depending on how your building your toon may be helpfull. opens one at 80 then 100 then 120 etc....
also if you get to 100 it opens up running cms. Doesnt hurt to be able to skidatle in a tight spot. Of course this only depends on your race since humans get retreat for a racial. they also get a def mod and a off mod racial plus sta/wis buff. You know what? Forget all I said.. just make a human cleric and be done with it.

I didn't do that with my cleric because I got it from my buddy after he decided to quit, I remember playing him at lower levels tho, in the 20s especially, but I have about 50 TPs saved on my Ranger because his str is almost maxed with buffs and my dex is maxed with buffs and I have ebought Power to go around (Never run out) so I don't need more Agi, and I can take on a white phantom easy, so I guess my stats are good enought for now, so I'll wait till my str max and dex max are raised from CM's, anyways, I agree with what you said...Compltetely

Well keep in mind that these are opinions only :) 1. racially I prefer the dwarfs since there sta is a little higher + im considering doomseeker (mc). 1a. I tend to notice alot of elf clerics because they have a racial cm that gives an extra 15max cha wether or nat it makes a big difference idk. 2. As far as exo is concerned iI don't think your path choice will matter. 2a. the HEAL path is an instant heal but im not sure on specifics. 2b. WARD path gives you pr/dr resist (but it unlocks a cm which is free to get resist spells for all resists) these resists are very helpful at higher lvls. 3. If you decided for faithful (mc) tho I would recommend heal path.
Well i hope that helps gluck

hey thanks for that advise.. thta does clear things up for me. I did end up making an elf
cleric. althought dwarf clerics are rare and still thinking about that one.
I already have a 52 shaman geared towards major healing, so i may end up going resist path

Rezzistable/lvl 6 resist path/PPO(lol just started this one)

Okay, heres a little info about Clerics, they can't barely do crap soling, but the heal like MO-FOs, were talkin 800+ with celestial healing (I heal a 60 Ogre Juggernaut with 7800HP approx 820HP per tick) and if you choose to go faithful, you should be able to do over 1200HP per tick...not shabby.

A little advice, MUCHO Wis and Cha will help you heal best, put a few (but not to many) TP's into Stamina, this will help if you were to pull aggro or if tank pulls 2-3 and dies.

Over all Cleric's are AMAZING for Raids and grinds...if you want to solo, don't bother with a Cleric...lol.

About Path options, I would reccomend Heal path, these one-tick heals come in VERY handy for stack healing, witch you will need to do a lot of later.

my cleric is now 55 and don't listen to anyone who tells you to jack all your points into charisma. a cleric's most important stat is stamina. every heal you buy has a default amount it heals for suited for your level, so you are always able to survive against mobs around your level without having max charisma. so if the tank dies with your best heal on him it's his fault. on the other hand you will get beat on a lot, because a mob's first target is the healer so you should build it like a tank.

by lvl 60 you should have at the least a 200 cha 250 wis base so you can buy any MC you want, and the rest should go into stamina and agility.

Now I'm not saying that you should put ALL your training points towards charisma (because you want a balanced healer) but alot of you training points should go to charisma. Your next highest stat should be wisdom. Wisdom determines your power pool.(your mana.) Hopefully this will help you a bit. Good Luck!

Also I find more than one faithful in a raid useless. I'd much rather see 1 faithful and the rest diviners and exorists. Plus in a raid I tend to rez just as much as I heal. For a level 60, after one death and my rez they will only have around 2 mil of debt.

The nuke is just a perk. I have a steady tank who is a pally so we indeed go to undead mostly so i can use my nuke and he can use his proc.

my 34 CLE dualed a 37 BRD: took forever, for about the first 15 minutes, I was flipping back and fourth from sportscenter and light healing myself and conserving mana. I'd occasionally hit em with a mediocre nuke so he had to respect some slight damage dealing. Then, even with his bard mana regen, he finally went oom. I just kept swinging, nuking and healing till he died.

IMO: (I say again: IMO) I disagree with the Dex. I started my CLE (who is now lvl 34) I was putting points all over the place (1 being Dex for Arcane damage). But pending what race you are for starters, it could be a huge- don't want to say 'waste'- but disappointment. If you spend the points to get your Dex jacked up to 100. That's 15 extra points of damage you will be able to do. If you want to go to 100 just for the CM plusses, may not be bad. I preferr to be able to heal my Tanks and DD's for more with lower costing heals. I still do arcane attacks but healing comes first. AT lvl 30ish when you got your dex up to 100 and your able to deal an extra 45 points of damage to a mob before your group kills it, IMO, not worth the sacrafice of being a better healer. Nuke anyway, use your Mark-line spells, etc., but you only spend TP's once.

Clerics, fun not boring. If you find your CL boring you are simply not playing it properly. With my Torment Death spell i was able to pull the middle Hex of 3 at Zentar's Keep without pulling the other 2. I was also able to solo 2 red hexes bak to bak b4 i needed a drink. No rooting involved. Boring is as boring does. I also pulled from igloos for a group of 3. 2 lv 38 Enchanters, and myself. The tank was repairing and the pet owners were afk taking a break while tank repaired and had left their pets targetted. Now that was fun. I got thru quite a few b4 the tank got bak. I was also able to completely solo my lv 40 path quest. Boring is as boring does.

I agree with being able to solo reds. I have my TP's scattered all over the place and a very poorly made 34 CLE (only my 2nd toon ever and is my main) and I can solo some red mobs.(preferrably undead) it may be faster to create an alt warr, solo him to level 60 and kill the mob, but the CLE with patience, ac, steady zap spells, roots & regens, can easily take a red. Just don't fall asleep in the process.

Grinding is what you do to gain xp in a group, pretty much tank pulls, healer heals, DD's kill, rinse and repeat.

Raiding is when you get multiple groups togeather and attack a certain mob. One tactic is for a tank to tuant while healer roots doing this constantly so the tank gets massive aggro. The tank is then sowed and runs in a wide circle so the mob cant hit him. The rest of the groups chases the mob and cut across the circle to do damage untill the mob is dead or the tank calls a hault to root and reestablish aggro.

The other way to raid is for the main tank to be grouped with a couple of healers that can stack heal and a mana battery, and then tank the mob like in a grind, every one else does as much damage as possible before the tank dies. This strategy usually requires more organization and secondaries to replace those that fall in battle.
