| Shaman |
| A shaman is similar to a cleric in some aspects, but is more attuned to the world of spirits and animals. They are typically found amongst the less specialized races, like the barbarian Northmen and trolls. While they have a solid repertoire of healing and other clerical type spells, the shaman’s strengths lie in offensive and augmenting spells which can benefi t others in their everyday lives. Many of the latter draw from the spiritual power of the animals with whom a shaman communes. |
But it's been over 2 years... I'm not all that sure anymore... but that sounds about right. Totally not bad.

Wisdom on a shaman not only adds to Power Pool, but it also mods many important spells. Primal Malady (Level 57 Drop spell that follows the line) has a 15% mod, Umbral Curse
(Mystic MCA) has a 10% mod and Avatar has a 10% mod.
I would rate Charisma second, Moding heals and unfortunately not adding to Power
Pool, it is still a must-have.
Stamina should not be over-looked it is possible to get a high stamina with the ease at which you can max two stats. Not only adding to power pool but it also allows you to take a considerably larger amount of hits.
CMs:
With the incredibly useless Class CMS that Shamans receive I would definitely recommend buying the Insight and Beauty lines, and possibly Diviner’s Presence and Wisdom if items do not max them.
Racial CMs aren’t worth giving a look at, So it is common to base racial selection off of appearance and alignment.
Elder: With a +50 Max Charisma and Wisdom (+50 Charisma) it is possible to get a 600 WIS/ 600 CHA.
Although the MC Abilities do not prove too useful in your role as healer. (Elder form is great for soloing, not only as a buff, but as a 1250 Self-Heal.)
Mystic: More Raid Orientated, with a devastating De-buff, Mystics are nearly always welcome on a raid.
More power and PoT than the Elder and only lacking 50 Charisma, this is still a great grind character. Some would actually say Umbral Curse benefits a grind group more than an extra 50 CHA.
Diviner: Too many wasted CMs and TPS. At first glance the added stack heal can be appealing, but once you add up the CM count, you will notice you will have a low Wisdom and Charisma. Which will leave you with lower than usually buffs and a long recast, high mana cost, Stack Heal, that is not too significant.
Paths-
Pet: This is a great path if you plan on soloing/ farming at higher levels. The pet is devastating with Avatar on, but can be lacking unbuffed.
De-buff: Stacks with Umbral Curse and Primal Malady. I have been told it receives a 10% WIS mod, but have not yet confirmed this.

your doing great. Maxing out your charisma
would've been my first choice too. You defintly balanced out your stamina and wisdom which was also a smart move.
I have a 52 shaman with 645cms spent. I went charisma first until i maxed it out. then i maxed out wisdom. now i'm working on my stamina.
the good thing with putting points into wisdom
is that you never go oom. But with low stamina
i can't take hits that much.
Your doing great. Keeping up the good work

I have a level 52 barb shaman and Im closing in on my MC. I've turned my shaman into a mini-cleric because i've put everything into wisdom / charisma, and i have PoT of 200. I have 490char/450wis (645cms spent) and I want to be competative with a cleric. What MC gives you a higher heal: Elder or Diviner?
thanks,
Chris

First off, stats. The three main stats for the shammy are WIS, CHA, and STA. Wisdom is your power pool, Charisma is your heal, and Stamina is your health. You should use the 2/2/1 rule to raise these stats. 2 pts WIS, 2 pts CHA, 1 pt STA of every 5 tp's you gain.
Next is your MC, First off you need to think about how you want to play your shammy especially after you reach level 60. Again scroll down through the forum and you will see lot's of discussion on shamam MC. In a nutshell there are 3 main MC available to the shaman, Elder, Mystic, and Diviner. Elder is the best if you plan to solo alot, Mystic is best for raids, and Diviner is the best healer.
Here are the MC requirements once again.
Elder - 200 WIS
150 CHA
Tribal Champion 3
Ursine Sway 4
Mystic - 200 STA
200 WIS
Affliction 3
Diviner - 250 WIS
160 CHA
160 DEX
160 STA
Diviners Wisdom 3 (requires Insight 3)
Diviner's Fortitute 3 (requires Vigor 3)
Diviner's Presence 2 (requires Beauty 3)
Diviner's Form 3 (requires Balance 3)
Finally, path the shaman's get 2 paths pet and attack spell. Most shaman I know have gone pet. To be honest I have yet to meet one who didn't. the pet path gives you a 'Spirtual' pet which is on average 2 levels higher than your store bought one. Below are links to each of the path spells.
Level 20
Pet: Spiritual guide
Wind: Decaying Wind
Level 30
Pet: Spiritual Guard
Wind : Sickening Wind http://eqoa.allakhazam.com/spell.html?eqoaspell=1686
Level 40
Pet: Spiritual Hunter
Wind: Wilting Wind
Level 49
Pet: Spiritual Slayer
Wind: Atropic Wind
I hope this helps, if you need more info, like I said before scroll down the forum a bit or better yet, TALK to some shamans in game, they will be your quickest answer to any questions you have. Good Luck!
I for one put alot into str (back when I first started out and didnt know better). Come to find out it really didnt hurt me that much with the elder mc cuz the str helps with my damage output. Right now I hit from 50-270 on reds with 185 base str and 380 buffed, but where most shamans have alot of cha I have 170 base and 435 maxed with jewlery and armor on and still heal for around 654 on normal players and around 710 on high HoT tanks. Whatever I lost on puttin tp in str I just make up with cha and wis armor and jewlry to max them out.
I went pet path and dont think I would of chose any different if I was to do it again, but if you go debuff path I would go mystic for the better debuff which will come in handy on the big mobs.
All in all its just comes down to how you want to play your toon. And by the way I like your sig MAX DEBT AND LOVIN IT. Aint that the truth...been on pos alot latly and never short of 40 mil debt.

I was told that since I was goin Elder for a MC that the higher STR was fine cuz of the STR gains I get from the MC. I like to think that im fine still as a total set-up for my shaman and like to think that ill be able to solo some higher lvl stuff with my pet, avatar, elder, and vessel spirit.
Just wondering what some of your thoughts on this was? Did I totally screw my shaman up or what?

Also, like person before said, armor and buffs and whatever can adjust any stat mixups. Especially at that lv. You do have a lil too much strength though, I suggest not really having anything boost that. Your buffs will raise it high enough, instead focus Sta/Wis/Cha.
Goodluck!

1. Which MC? Mystic, Elder or Diviner.. I prolly don't want diviner unless its really good because of it being so hard to get, but which MC is best for groups? I know about hodstock i just need opinions and help.
2. Which Path? I was thinking Pet-Path but since i don't know too much on shammans any info is good on this.
3. Stats? Would a: 2Cha 2Wis 1Sta (get 5 points and then give each one its amount) Be a good way to make my stats? Also will i need any Agi at all?
4. Does avatar have a Wis mod or not?

Master Class
On deciding on which master class you want to go really depends on how you want to play your shaman. Personally I have been waffling between all the mc's available to the my shaman.
I finally decided to go mystic. The mystic mca debuff can make most mobs weak as babies.
So on deciding between master classes it's best to decribe what role you will play during raids Which in my opinion is all I want level 60 for.
Mystic - Master Debuffer and support healer
Diviner - Primary Healer (has 2 heals that stack)
Elder - Better for soloing. Polar bear form has quad hit and a better heal then the Mystic.
Path
Just like all other classes you have 2 path choices. First the pet path, over 90% of shamans go this route. On choosing this path you get your Spiritual (cat) pets which give you a 21 , 31 , and finally a 43 pet (if you follow the same path). The second path is the 'Wind' attack spells route.
Character Building
As for building you shaman remember your primary role in the game is as a healer. Early on in character generation concentrate mainly on Wisdom and Charisma. These 2 abilities are the 2 most important early on. Wisdom for your power pool and Charisma for an increased heal. Remember all mc's require a minimum of 200 Wisdom, so the sooner you get your wisdom to this point the better. Personally, I put all my points into wisdom and charisma until I reached a base of 200 in each, Then I began working on stamina. By time I reached level 45 I had (with the help of cm's) 200 base in STA/WIS/CHA. As well with my equipment, I was at the stat max for wis and cha. Now at 55 I have 100 free points to spend where I want.
I almost forgot agility. It is up to if you want to upgrade your agility. Personally my agility is still base. Keep in mind 2 things when you consider raising agility. First, if you choose the Diviner mc route, you will need 100 agility to purchase mc req'd cm's. Second, how muuch do you plan to solo your Shaman? If you don't plan to solo alot, then your dex/agi buffs will do quite nicely. If you plan to solo alot it probably would not hurt to put a few points into agility.
Remember cm's and equipment can help fill in for character defiencies. For example Vital body is a quick way to raide your hit points. Remember it takes about 11 stamina to raise your hit points by 1 per level.
One last point, Shamans are the best healers for long grinds for 4 reasons.
1. Heals
(the higher your charisma the better)
2. Buffs
(Shamans can buff STR/STA/AGI/DEX. This allows party members to attack better and avoid mobs better. Make sure to complete your ability quests for buff upgrades)
3. Debuffs
(The shaman debuff really can weaken mobs so they hit for less and are easier to kill)
4. Cannibilize
(Cannibilize,Cannibilize,Cannibilize. In my opinion this ability really sets the shaman apart from other healer classes. It is also one of the most under utilized abilities shamans have. This ability allows the shaman to trade health for power. Seeing that shamans are go figure ... healers? It is easy for us to regain health. The first level of cannibilize (level 20) gives 100 power for 100 health. Using cannibilize will keep the shaman with more than enough power during the longest grinds. Any player in eqoa knows that the only thing that stops a good grind rythym is either the tank or the healer running out of mana. Never again. I personally have not bought more than 100 drinks since level 20. Think about the tunar you will save! :)

The short answer is yes. For every 10 points of wisdom you add 1 to each ability.
I hope this helps to answer any question you may have.

I have a 35 shaman and I just want inform any new shamans that they can be better than any cleric or druid. I didnt quite no what i was doing for my shaman when i started, but it turned out great. I liked the good path with the Barbarian so i took it. In Halas I began pumping sta. (which already heald 10 of my bonus points)
***** NOTE *****
I am going elder, you might have to reconsider this method for other types of master lasses, as Elders need 150 base charisma
When I got my sta to 100 base I left it alone for a while and worked on my wis for power. I shortly got that to 100 also.
Then came the charisma, i got that to 100, I'm not sure around what level probably 15+. And from them on I pumped sta and wis.
***** NOTE *****
BUY ANY AND ALL DEFENSE MODS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, THEY WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!!!
At level 25 I began the ultimate change...... all charisma. I wanted a 160 base for Beauty 3 and 410 charisma max. I dont no if this is what you want to do but here it goes. I then had an entire set of Idocrase chain armor created, along with and jewlery i need to hit max. What i had left went to PoT rares and Sta/Wis crafted items.
I have kept my charisma maxed ever since.
(once you go max you never go back) ;P
****** NOTE ******
Do not let either of your main stats fall below 300 combined. Your power will not be happy....
If you follow this and just make sure to buy any PoT and HoT CMs, as well as all your HP Factors you will be a lean mean fighting machine. I soloed my entire 30 epic, and the MTG 33. Its very much possible to solo yellows or even reds.... if your careful and you keep your power up for heals. If you are patient you will be rewarded. And don't ever forget about your buffs and debuffs, they can help you out greatly.
Not to brag but at level 33 I could tank at mino's, and DFC pfffft! I could PL there if I wanted to! And tanks like HIGH heals when they are in a bind, my heals are currently at around 420 a tic. Power is far from an issue. At one point in time I feared any bad pulls because I was afraid I would run out of power. But you have got to ignore the urge to put more points into your main stats, remember this is for Elders, and maybe Diviners im not sure though.
I also went pet path, but I dont think this makes much of a difference other than maybe a little more difficulty soloing.
***** STATS *****
BASES
STR 65 (leave this to your tribal champ cms)
STA 120(let buffs and equips help you out here)
AGI 60 (leave it to the buffs)
DEX 60 (buffs again)
WIS 148(currently boosting this up for MC)
INT 55 (*drools and stares*)
CHA 165(rely on armor to keep maxed)
HP 1200 (Im pretty sure)
POW 2200 (I no this one)
***** NOTE *****
DO NOT FORGET YOU ARCHETYPE MASTERIES AS THEY CAN PROVIDE UP TO 45 MORE POINTS IN MOST STATS
BUFFED WITH ARMOR
STR 165(This is from new bear forms and buffs)
Sta 176(Once again this will help you out)
AGI 100(Thanks to the buffs)
DEX 100(Well you know... buffs)
INT 55 (*Sets chest hair on fire*)
WIS 273(Leaves me with 82 PoT and good resists)
CHA 409(Thanks to crafted items and some rares)
HP 1600(Yeah big jump, thanks to bear and buffs)
POW 2600(Easy to see why this is so high)
***** NOTE *****
82 PoT is not just me, I have cms and rares that also help me out!
Now do you see why clerics can't top a good shaman. The buffs are what make you great, and you also get AVATAR, a very very uber buff. If I'm not mistaken its 150 to STR STA AGI and DEX, with like a 5% WIS mod on AGI and DEX
But I'm sure a correctly made cleric could hold its own, I'm not trying to spark off a big debate I'm just trying to help. But what do I know I only have 55 int. :P
You be your own judge and do what you want, In your opinion I could just be a reckless noob, but hey I get the job done and my tank/groups like it so I guess im doing something right!
Thanks if you trust any of my advice and GOOD LUCK on your new shaman and I hope you have as much fun as I have been having on mine!
And please correct me if I am wrong on anything!
